About the event

We will begin our experience together at Counterbalance Park at the corner of Queen Anne Ave and Roy Street. A number of bus lines stop within a block or two of this location and street parking is available in the surrounding area but not free.

Using the Road to Emmaus as our Guide, we will walk from this very urban park to Kinnear Park (about ½ mile). We will stop a number of times on our walk to reflect on and discuss the journey the resurrected Christ took with two of his downcast followers. During this time, we will wonder about the conversation they had, and the scriptures Jesus used to explain what had and was happening. Once in Kinnear Park we will pause to break bread together and wonder about how the risen Lord was made known to those long-ago travelers as well as how he is being made known to us in “the breaking of the bread” in the Eucharist and beyond.

As we return to Counterbalance Park, we will have the opportunity to talk about how the resurrection has changed all that is, including ourselves. We will imagine the ways in which Jesus is walking beside each of us on our own journeys and how we feel called to live out of this magnificent reality. Our journey will conclude with a hands-on project to help us share the love of the risen Lord with others.

There is no charge for this event but advanced registration is requested.
